Born in 1946.
Graduated Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1968 with MA degree in Foreign Economics.
In 1971 was awarded a PhD degree at Plekhanov Moscow Institute of National Economy.
From 1972 until 1981 worked at the Research Institute of Price Formation supervised by the USSR State Committee on Prices (Goskomtsen).
Since 1981 has been working at the Institute of International Economic and Political Studies of Russian Science Academy (IMEPI RAN) (currently – Institute of Economics of Russian Science Academy).
In 1995 obtained a Habilitation degree.
In 1996 became a professor, and in 2006 – a corresponding member of Russian Science Academy.
In 2003 became a Director of the Institute of International Economic and Political Studies RAS.
Since 2005 – Director of Institute of Economics RAS.
