MIKHAIL KHAZIN
Economist, Publicist, Political Scientist
In 1979 finished a mathematical school and later studied at Yaroslavl State University. Then graduated from the Department of Probability Theory of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at Moscow State University. Studied statistics, statistical physics and the theory of dynamic systems.
From 1984 to 1988 worked at the Academy of Sciences, USSR.
From 1989 to 1992 worked for Goskomstat, the Institute for Statistics and Economic Research, USSR/Russian Federation.
From 1993 to1998 worked for the Russian government (awarded with the title of Actual State Councillor of the Russian Federation).
From 1995 to 1997 – head of the Credit Policy Department at the Ministry of Economics, Russia.
From 1997 to 1998 – deputy head of Economic Management for the President of the Russian Federation (discharged June 1998)
Since 1998 – consultant on economic research.
In 2000 – 2001 he proved the structural causes of the economic crisis in the US.
In 2004 Khazin and A. Kobyakov published a book called “The Decline of the Dollar Empire and the End of Pax Americana” in which they outlined a new theory of capitalism, which implied the inevitability of a great economic crisis.
Khazin is the author of many articles in Russia and worldwide, and is often interviewed on economic issues and the Russian socio-political situation. He has led a number of radio and television programmes, which were also on economic themes. He actively tries to promote knowledge about economics among the population.
